Called to Abide
Focus Verse: John 15:4 – “Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me.”
Reflection: John’s journey with Jesus began with a simple yet profound encounter. Hearing John the Baptist proclaim, “Behold, the Lamb of God!” (John 1:36), John was drawn to Jesus. When Jesus called him from his fishing nets, John immediately left his old life—his nets, his boat, even his father—to follow the Messiah (Mark 1:19–20). This immediate response shows the power of a personal encounter with Christ. Abiding begins with a choice to leave distractions behind and walk closely with Jesus.
Application: Like John, we are called to know Jesus personally. What “nets” or distractions are keeping you from fully following Christ? Spend time in prayer today, asking God to help you respond to His call with the same boldness John showed.
Prayer: Lord, thank You for calling me to abide in You. Help me leave behind distractions and follow You wholeheartedly, just as John did. Amen.
