“He who comes from above is above all… He whom God has sent utters the words of God, for he gives the Spirit without measure.” (John 3:31, 34)
John the Baptist draws the sharpest contrast possible: Jesus comes from above and is above all. Earthly messengers speak from the dust; Jesus speaks what He has seen and heard in heaven. Every other voice is limited; His is limitless because the Father has given Him the Spirit without measure. To receive Jesus’ testimony is to set our seal that God is true (v. 33). Rejecting Him is not merely disagreement—it is calling the God of truth a liar. There is no neutral ground.
When I listen to Jesus’ words in Scripture, do I receive them as the very words of God spoken by One who has seen heaven? How would my day change if I truly believed He is above all—above my fears, my plans, my preferences?
Let’s pray that God open our ears to hear Jesus today as the final, flawless Word.
