Recognizing Christ’s Authority
Matthew 8:23-27 “And when he got into the boat, his disciples followed him. And behold, there arose a great storm on the sea, so that the boat was being swamped by the waves; but he was asleep. And they went and woke him, saying, ‘Save us, Lord; we are perishing.’ And he said to them, ‘Why are you afraid, O you of little faith?’ Then he rose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm. And the men marveled, saying, ‘What sort of man is this, that even winds and sea obey him?”
A disciple recognizes Jesus’ absolute authority over heaven and earth, as seen in His power over storms, sickness, demons, and death. This means surrendering every area of life—church, home, thoughts, and actions—to His command. Ask yourself: Do I give Christ the right to order my decisions and enforce obedience? Are we daily reminding ourselves that Jesus Christ is our Lord, our master? Does He have first place in our lives and sit on the throne of our hearts?
Pray-Jesus, reign fully in my life as the Lord who has authority over all the earth, all the universe and especially over me.
