The Midnight Seeker
John 3:1-2 “Now there was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. This man came to Jesus by night…”
Nicodemus had everything: status, knowledge, wealth, influence. Yet something about Jesus’ signs kept him awake. He came at night—not just to avoid crowds, but because he was walking in spiritual darkness while carrying every religious credential imaginable.
Sometimes the people furthest from salvation aren’t the obvious sinners, but the ones who look the most religious. Nicodemus teaches us that impressive résumés don’t impress God. If the “teacher of Israel” needed something more, then so do we.
We can pray, “Lord, show me where I’m trusting my own goodness or reputation instead of You. Help me to rely on You alone for my salvation.
