Turned Upside Down
Scripture: Acts 17:6 (ESV)
“…These men who have turned the world upside down have come here also.”
In Thessalonica, the Gospel was accused of flipping society on its head—and it did. Christianity changed the world! Where infants were once discarded on rubbish heaps, Christians rescued them because every child bears God’s image (Genesis 1:27). Where girls were drowned at birth, the church declared, “You shall not murder a child by abortion nor kill one that is born” (Didache 2:2).
The sanctity of life was foundational in the infancy of the church. We cherish life! Christians built the first hospitals and passed laws against infanticide. The very idea that every person matters—began with believers who dared to live as if Jesus is King.
It’s true, Christianity has turned the world upside down. Without the gospel the entire world would be a different place. Thank God today that the Gospel has changed the world and our lives too.
